How do you know you have allergies? When your cat starts sneezing first and then so do you about a day later. She went to the vet for treatment; I made my own. First I tried Claritin and Aleve but after going through three boxes of tissues in 4 days and still with a deep cough, scratchy throat and perpetually runny nose, I dived into the herbs. The tincture worked better than everything else. I simmered the following in glycerin: 1 teaspoon each of Echinacea, Calendula, Comfrey, Mullein, Chickweed, Marshmallow root, Lobelia and Cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of Ginger and 1/16 teaspoon of Cayenne. Then I strained it all into a 2oz bottle and started off adding it to my coffee or a comfrey tea 2-3 times a day. Eventually, I discovered that it tastes fine by itself and when my nose would start getting stuffy and the cough would come back, I'd just take a dropperful neat. The cough would stop in about 20 minutes and I'd suddenly find I could breathe again. Good stuff!
One advantage of working in hospice is that I get to play with all the therapy dogs. This is Asher, a Corgi.
